Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Qum: Tahajjud Alarm iOS application ("Qum", "the app", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.

Summary: Qum does not require an account, does not transmit your alarm or location data off your device, and does not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Location is used only on-device to compute prayer times and the last third of the night.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or transmit:

  • Personal identifiers such as name, email address, or phone number;
  • Your alarm schedule, wake/dismiss history, or streak data;
  • Analytics, behavioral data, or third-party SDK telemetry;
  • Advertising identifiers.

2. Location Data

With your permission, the app uses your device's location to compute accurate prayer times (maghrib, fajr, and the last third of the night) for your area. Location is processed entirely on-device and is never sent to us or any third party. Free-tier users set a fixed location manually (city search or map pin); Pro users may enable automatic location updates so alarms stay accurate while traveling — this still happens entirely on-device. You may revoke location access at any time in Settings → Qum: Tahajjud Alarm → Location.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Your alarms, settings, sleep-planner preferences, and streak log are stored only on your device using iOS's standard local storage (SwiftData). We do not operate a server and have no access to this data. There is no cloud sync in this version of the app.

4. Alarms and Notifications

The app schedules alarms using Apple's AlarmKit so they can sound even when your device is on Silent, in Focus, or in Sleep mode. Alarms are scheduled and fired by iOS on your device — we do not run a push server and we do not see when or whether you dismiss or snooze an alarm.

5. Apple Watch

If you enable the optional Apple Watch companion (Pro), your upcoming wake time is synced from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, so the watch can deliver a silent haptic tap at the right time. This sync happens directly between your own paired devices — it never passes through our servers, because we don't have any.

6. Purchases

Qum offers a free tier and a one-time Pro unlock (not a subscription). All transactions are processed by Apple via the App Store. We do not see or store your payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies to those transactions.

7. Permissions

The app may request the following iOS permissions, each optional:

  • Location: to compute prayer times and the last third of the night for your area.
  • Alarms: to schedule and sound alarms via AlarmKit, including when Silent or Focus is on.

You may revoke any permission at any time in Settings → Qum: Tahajjud Alarm.

8. Children's Privacy

Qum does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Data Security

Because no data is transmitted to us, there is no server-side data to secure. Information stored on your device is protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and device-level security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
